LAURENCE PAYNE studied trombone and piano at the Royal Academy of Music. 

Laurence's theatrical career started at the Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford, where he was Musical Director for 19 consecutive Pantomime seasons as well as many other shows. Pantomimes and Music Hall tours followed, notably for Ian Liston's Hiss & Boo Company and Jan Hunt's Paper Moon Theatre.  For many years Laurence was resident Musical Director and arranger at London's Brick Lane Music Hall. He has travelled all over Britain with shows ranging from Rock n' Roll compilations to the very English "Salad Days", and as far afield as Hong Kong - where he treasures the memory of a thousand Chinese voices responding "Ah so!" to Dorothy's announcement that she wasn't in Kansas any more!
